Record numbers go ‘Rocking and Racing’ at the world’s largest festival of historic motorsport. Over 100,000 people came out to enjoy a weekend of superb historic motorsport, as the heatwave continued at Silverstone, the home of British motor sport. Amongst the extensive trade village, we were there with the first public outing of our new 1-litre top up packs for Q20w-50. It was great to see the throngs of visitors all enjoying the festival atmosphere and popping in to learn about the return of Duckhams to the classic car scene.

As the gates of Lincolnshire Showground opened to herald the start of world’s largest festival of Triumph TR sports cars, enthusiasts from all over the globe arrived under beautiful blue skies and blazing hot sunshine to celebrate the marque with the very best summer weather imaginable. It was Friday afternoon on the 29th June and by 2pm, the first of the campers were already erecting tents and sparking up their barbecues. But, whilst the excitement for the festivities that lay ahead began to build on the showground, just 20 miles north a good number of attendees had their minds focused purely on speed as the Blyton Park Trackday offered the chance to drive your TR on one of the finest track-day venues in the country.

Silverstone Auctions will offer a 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth touring car homologation special from the golden era of touring car racing at the two-day Silverstone Classic Sale on 21st and 22nd July at Silverstone Circuit. The RS500 is a car linked to our British Touring Car heritage here at Duckhams and so its fantastic to see such cars, that epitomise 80s motorsport peaking real interest amongst historic car collectors.

This weekend was the start of Louise Cook’s World Rally Championship campaign, on Rally Italia Sardegna based in Alghero. Louise is the only female driver in the entirety of the World Rally Championship and is a close friend of the Duckhams team.

What can we say? The Morris Minor Owners Club’s National Rally, held at Kelmarsh Hall on June 23-24 was a triumph of what a club can do when they put their minds to it and really pull together. As Duckhams we not only have a long heritage linked to the Morris brand but also, we are very proud to have played our small part in supporting this fantastic enthusiasts event.

The Saint-Saturnin Classic British Welcome happens every year on the Friday before the Le Mans 24 Hour race and is a free classic car show held on the playing fields of a quaint French village on the outskirts of Le Mans city centre. It provides a central point for the pilgrimage of so many British car fans that make the journey over to watch the 24-hour race in their classic and exotic cars every year and the atmosphere is incredible. A party, a jamboree, call it what you will there is something for everyone here and as the name suggests the welcome received, especially for those attending in a classic car is very warm and enthusiastic indeed.
